The exhibition

Rooted in heritage.
Growing between worlds.

The Cultural Between brings together Caribbean-born and diasporic artists whose work emerges from the space between the islands they come from and the places they now live.

Each artist responds in their own way. Through painting, photography, sculpture, textile, mixed media, film, performance, and digital works, they explore how identity is shaped by memory, migration, distance, belonging, and the daily reality of carrying more than one culture at once.

The tone of the show comes directly from the artists themselves—reflecting the complexities, contradictions, and creative richness of Caribbean identity across borders.

Guiding question
“What does it mean to create from a hybrid cultural experience?”

Caribbean identity is not fixed. It is lived, remembered, and reimagined.

Curatorial vision

Nzingah Oniwosan

Curated around one central question, the exhibition invites each artist to speak from the complexity of a hybrid cultural experience.

The curatorial framework leaves room for difference. Rather than presenting Caribbean identity as one story, it brings together distinct voices, media, memories, and relationships to place.

Across the exhibition, the space “between” becomes not an absence, but a generative place—where artists negotiate inheritance, movement, distance, connection, and new forms of belonging.
